Church plus charcuterie, what could be better? This past Fall, women participated in various classes to learn an assortment of skills. When Heather asked if I would teach a charcuterie class, I said absolutely! I own a charcuterie business and teach classes often, however most of the time it is to people I have never met! It was sure fun to gather all together and for ladies to try something they have never done before.
About a year ago, I attended a sourdough making class. After I left the class, I was so excited to make my first sourdough loaf and proud of myself for taking the time to learn something new! Sourdough has always been a skill I’ve wanted to learn but knew I would need to take an actual class and learn from someone in person vs reading about it online. I had so much more confidence and fun taking a class and learning a new skill that I could replicate on my own. It then made me think of all the ladies (and men!) I have taught charcuterie skills to and a good reminder you are never too busy or old to learn a new skill! It is always so fun to see the look on my class participant’s faces when they make a salami rose or cut a kiwi decoratively! Like most skills, with some guided instruction, it is easier than you think! It is also fun to see people who have taken my classes send me their charcuterie board creations.
Most of all, these classes, like the one we had, gave us the opportunity to spend time together and to also meet new faces. We had a great group of ladies which were multigenerational, which is great! I have been at CRBC for 13+ years now and still meet new people all the time. Gathering around the table and learning new skills while eating good food is always a great evening!
