God's Love Is Like

God’s Love is like a lighthouse - it is a comfort to those tossed to and fro, and shines brighter than all surrounding darkness (Psalm 26:8).

God’s Love is like a fire - it is atoning, refining, and enduring (Hebrews 12:29, Psalms 136:26).

God’s Love is like a friend who gives you their sandwich when you forgot yours - it is sacrificial and generous, a simple truth at its core (John 15:13).

God’s Love is like a fresh rain on dry ground- it brings life to dry and forgotten places (Ephesians 2:4-5).

God’s Love is like fallen snow - it covers the earth, like it covers our offenses (Proverbs 1012).

God’s Love is like a mountain - it is mighty, it bears all things, it lasts (Song of Solomon 8:7, Ephesians 4:2, Psalm 71:3).

God’s Love is like a warrior - it saves, it takes great delight in those whom He saves, it rebukes no more (Zephaniah 3:17).

God’s Love is like true sacrifice - it gives what we cannot give to ourselves (John 3:16 , 1 John 4:9-11).

God’s Love is like a song sung sweetly over you - it rejoices, it offers something you cannot offer yourself, and is free (Zephaniah 3:17).

In the words of the hymnist William Cowper in his beloved hymn, There Is A Fountain,

Ever since by faith I saw the stream

Thy flowing wounds supply

Redeeming love has been my theme

And shall be till I die.

Oh yes, may His love be the theme from which we live our lives!
