Coffee in Oklahoma City

Coffee can be an object of conversation or a tool to eliminate the tired underneath our eyes and you can bet that Oklahoma City has plenty of places to quench your craving! Something I love about coffee is the way to drink it; slow and methodically. This slowness of time allows us to rest in Christ or even fellowship with those that we love.

So check out this list of coffee shops in Oklahoma City, not listed in any particular order. I did include a 1-10 rating system with 10 being the best score. Categories rated included size, aesthetic, loudness, kid friendliness, and location.

Size: Does it feel like you are part of the conversation next to you? Could you study or grade work there? (I’m a teacher, hence my grading work consideration.)

Aesthetic: Does it have good vibes? Have they put effort into creating a cozy or modern environment?

Loudness: The louder the place the lower the score.

Kid Friendly: Can I take my kiddos here successfully? Room for strollers or carriers? Drink options that aren’t just coffee?

Location: Is parking easily accessible? Is it street parking or is there a parking lot?

 Let’s get started!

Leaf + Bean

When you walk into Leaf + Bean you will most likely be enamored with the clean modern feel. It may be a little difficult to find as it is underneath an apartment complex in the heart of Oklahoma City. However, Leaf + Bean is worth the search! They have unique options on their menu and the seating includes tables big enough to spread out and work, but also a large comfy couch to have those more intimate conversations.

    4. Kid Friendly: 6/10

    5. Location: 5/10

 Coffee Jerks

Coffee Jerks seems like a misleading name for this home-y, friendly, upbeat coffee shop. They serve up smoothies and all types of coffee both quickly and with a smile! The space is comfy and also includes multiple types of seating including the most comfy chair to sit and simply read a book.

    4. Kid Friendly: 8/10

Coffee Slingers

This modern but rustic coffee shop is a good place to come and do some work. They have unique tables that are wide enough to work but long enough to spread out if need be. Their coffee is quality, ranging from lattes to cappuccinos. With high ceilings and wide open spaces, you don’t feel like you are having the same conversation as the table next to you.

    1. Size: 9/10

    2. Aesthetic: 8/10

    3. Loudness: 9/10

    4. Kid Friendly: 7/10

    5. Location: 6/10

TOTAL: 39/50

Cuppies & Joe

Here you can find amazing freshly made cupcakes and a good cup of joe, just like the name suggests! This dessert cafe/coffee shop also sells other delicious desserts like pies, cookies, and more. Cuppies & Joe is a  good space to meet a friend and just have quality conversation. As a repurposed house, it feels like you are walking into a friends house. They utilize each room with tables, couches, and comfy chairs. Everything is mismatched just like where you lived in college!

    1. Size: 6/10

    2. Aesthetic: 8/10

    3. Loudness: 9/10

    4. Kid Friendly: 9/10

    5. Location: 5/10

Aspen Coffee

I am a little partial to Aspen Coffee as it is a Stillwater born company (Go Pokes!) who have in the past 3-4 years migrated to the Edmond/OKC area! They are known for a frozen coffee drink called a “Granita”. I usually get them straight up, but you can also add flavors like caramel, hazelnut, and vanilla.

    2. Aesthetic: 7/10

    3. Loudness: 8/10

    4. Kid Friendly: 9/10

Cafe Evoke

Cafe Evoke is a modern but warm coffee shop that includes lots and lots of places to work and spread out. Their coffee is superb and their service is quick. This is a place where you will usually be able to have your own space and get what you need to get done.

    2. Aesthetic: 9/10

    3. Loudness: 8/10

Ellis Island Coffee

Ellis Island is a newer coffee shop on the scene that is located on the Edmond side of Oklahoma City. This coffee shop is unique because it stays open later and caters to different tastes. They have phenomenal and diverse seating that allows for different types of meetings.

Stella Nova

With its wide open space and unique seating, Stella Nova will take you by surprise. They’ve only been around for the past few years, yet give the feel of professionalism and a great keep it local vibe. They have multiple locations in Oklahoma City and will soon become one of your favorites.

    1. Size: 9/10

    2. Aesthetic: 6/10

    3. Loudness: 7/10

    4. Kid Friendly:  9/10

Classen Coffee Co

Classen Coffee Co has a variety of menu options ranging from several types of teas and coffees. They have different spaces for conversation including a wonderful patio space that includes a covered area. This is a place you will want to frequent.

    1. Size: 8/10

    2. Aesthetic: 9/10

    3. Loudness: 7/10

    4. Kid Friendly:7 /10

Finally, I want to conclude with some honorable mentions. These coffee shops are by no means less worthy than the above places, they are simply places I have not yet been able to visit. Go check them out and support small businesses!
